Exactly! “What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! (Romans 6:21 NIV)” …and yet I don’t understand how to stop doing them…
…And that’s just it. We don’t have the power to stop ourselves, but He does through us.
On to Romans 8… where the power resides because, “Life is in the Spirit”.
Our obligation is not to our flesh, to do what it says or even to feel badly or guilty if we do.
But that we would have an ear to hear what the Spirit is saying and treasure His voice,
because He is the empowerment to crucify ALL the deeds of the body,
overcoming by His Spirit.
The voice of the living God who is interceding,
speaking to our crucified souls and longing to meet us in repentance.
This is why He has led me to say, “I live off of His intercession in repentance.”
I speak the truth in Christ, I am not lying,
my conscience confirms it through the Holy Spirit.
